...thanks for visiting!

...what started as a "sure, I'll give it a go", has turned into an obsession!
I love the idea of giving cakes as personal gifts and I think a good cake is the perfect finishing touch to any event.

I make cakes for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, Christmas, and for "just because" gifts!

This last year I've enjoyed learning more and adding to my portfolio. I only take on one request per month (but I can be persuaded!!!). December was a crazy month, with fourteen mini cakes, eighteen cake toppers, one baby shower, and a two tier novelty Christmas cake!!! I'm exhausted but had the most fun. I'm looking forward to a quiet January as I've only got the one birthday cake due for the end of the month.

Please get in touch with me if you have any questions, and in the meantime, enjoy having a look at some of my edible creations.

'Snow White's Cottage' - Birthday Cake

...this cake was a gift for my beautiful niece, Caitlin's first birthday. She was having a disney character fancy dress party. She's a gorgeous little girl who looks just like Snow White and was therefore the inspiration for this cake.

so, the cake...
...it was a huge (five layers) cake made to feed 70 people. The 'garden' was made from vanilla cake with strawberry flavoured buttercream; five layers, 12 inch square. The 'cottage' was vanilla and chocolate marble cake with chocolate buttercream -yum!!

...the topper was a store bought figure that Caitlin kept and still plays with - it's almost as cute as she is.

Cottage Cake

...there were lots of  details to this cake that took a lot of preparation but they definately enhanced the overall look of the cake. I can't wait for my next 'garden' cake!

'Law Books' - Graduation Cake

..this cake was created to be given as a gift to a student who had just graduated law school.
The specs for this cake were; a mini-cake, a stack of books in a variety of colours, and a girl in cap and gown.
I love any opportunity to do mini-cakes, I love the idea of giving such a personalised gift. My first cakes were mini and I usually make 'sibling' cakes alongside each cake which are more often then not given to my cake-obsessed brother-in-law!! (photos to follow)

so, the cake...
...I decided to make the cake itself into the stack of books so each 'book' is 4"x 3" chocolate fudge cake with milk chocolate ganache frosting.

...the topper is a large 3" model made from sugarpaste and was kept by one happy graduate!

Graduation Cake Topper
...three books were made but I felt the cake looked better with only two stacked. The third was given to the client as a sibling cake for them to include in the gift if they chose to.
